League Format
HLL (Majors) and HLL (Minors)The Herts Little League (HLL) is a competition for youth players aged 6 to 16. It involves teams and players from Hertfordshire, London and other regions. In 2011 the HLL made a transition by splitting into two divisions, HLL (Majors) and HLL (Minors). HLL Majors will involve teams for players aged between 12 and 16 (flexible) and the HLL Minors will be for players aged 7 to 11 (flexible). This is aimed to provide the right playing conditions for the players’ development and will achieve much more competitive and enjoyable games. This is the first year in which we are making this commitment and inevitably there will be a transitional period when there will be fewer teams in each of the two League Divisions. However, the League is very pleased to report that the number of players taking part in Spring Training this year was up compared to the same period last year. If the League continues to grow at this rate, the number of Herts teams will be going up next year and in future seasons. The League is also in advanced discussions with several independent teams, about adding them to the HLL lineup either as full league members or as teams taking part as an Inter-League opponent with results counting towards the HLL standings. Herts All Star Teams in the BBF LeaguesThroughout the season members of the Herts Little League will also be taking part in BBF league games against teams from other parts of the country. The Herts teams competing in the BBF Leagues are referred to as All-Star teams and they are a selection of the best performing players from all the Herts Little League teams in the various age groups. Last year Herts had one All-Star team competing in the BBF Under-14 (Bronco) League. This year Herts is committed to give more of our members the experience of being a Herts All-Star player by adding two more All-Star teams competing in the BBF Leagues. They are as follows:
The coaching staff of the Herts All-Star teams will be assessing players throughout the HLL season in order to determine the All-Star rosters, which may change from one BBF game to the next and the opportunity is there for every Herts player to work hard to earn a place with one of the All-Star Teams. |
